One thing I absolutely love to do is make crafts with my little sisters. There was a long time in my childhood where it was only me and my brothers, so it makes me happy that I can do crafts with my little sisters. They especially love when we make things like play dough and slime, so I decided to try out this homemade moon sand recipe!
Since my sisters are ages 8 and 3, it is often hard to find crafts that they are both able to do. They loved this Homemade Moon Sand. It wasn’t too messy and they loved helping me stir and add in the food coloring.
Moon sand is such a cool substance, and this homemade moon sand is no exception. It is crumbly, but yet can also be molded into shapes. My sisters had so much fun with it… they played with it for hours after we made it. My 3 year old sister even said she had dreams about Moonsand the night after we made it! That girl cracks me up.
I love all the fun colors we chose for this homemade moon sand! So bright and summer-like!
- 1 c corn starch (more or less, depending on the consistency you want)
- 1/4 c oil (again: more or less depending on the consistency you want)
- Food coloring
- Mix corn starch and oil in a large bowl. Make sure it is thoroughly combined. Make sure you like the texture of the uncolored moon sand before you add in the food coloring.
- Divide moon sand into separate bowls and add food coloring.
